The following warning is applied to ALL football helmets. You should all read and digest it.
Remember - head up when making any contact and don't lead with the head.
NOCSAE Warning label
DO NOT USE FACE MASKS/HELMET SYSTEMS TO BUTT, RAM OR SPEAR AN OPPOSING PLAYER. THIS IS IN VIOLATION OF THE FOOTBALL RULES AND CAN RESULT IN SEVERE HEAD, BRAIN, OR NECK INJURY, PARALYSIS OR DEATH TO YOU, AND POSSIBLE INJURY TO YOUR OPPONENT. THERE IS THE RISK THAT THESE INJURIES MAY ALSO OCCUR AS A RESULT OF ACCIDENTAL CONTACT WITHOUT INTENT TO BUTT, RAM OR SPEAR. NO FACE MASK/HELMET SYSTEM CAN PREVENT ALL SUCH INJURIES. _________________ - Coach Hollingdale

Rule of thumb: you should always be able to see the guy you're about to hit. If all you can see is grass then you're not doing it right. _________________ Alumni 98-99 |

Exactly: See what you hit, hit what you see.
Trouble is, you watch a lot of NFL players who hit all wrong and the younger players emulate. It makes it hard to coach effectibvely when you are undermined by the pros.
I watched an interesting show on ESPN last week on that and secondary concussion syndrome. Scary stuff indeed! _________________ - Coach Hollingdale

Should find a video of what happened to that guy from Buffalo.
That should do the trick.
Either that or I'll get my sister to come down and have a word. She's an occupational therapist specialising in Spinal injuries.
Not a help when there are still folk in Football teaching that you should stick your hat between the numbers either. You see that in a couple of films. _________________ Alumni 98-99 |
